Sunhee Lee, PhD is an Assistant professor of Medicine at Duke University.  She obtained her Ph.D. at the University of Arizona and trained as a postdoctoral fellow in the laboratory of William Jacobs at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.  Her postdoctoral work involved the mechanisms of pathogenesis of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, as well as immune defense responses.  She joined the Duke Human Vaccine Institute in April 2007. 
 
The Lee lab focuses its research in the following areas: development of safer and more effective vaccines and immunotherapeutics for tuberculosis via novel strategies and methods, evaluation of alternative approaches to enhance the efficacy of current mycobacterial vaccines, and the development of recombinant mycobacterial vehicles capable of eliciting strong immune responses to HIV and other foreign antigens.
