Laura P. Hale, MD, PhD
Director, Laboratory of Oral Vaccine Development
Dr. Hale is an Assistant Research Professor of Pathology and Director of the Laboratory of Oral Vaccine Development. She is board-certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. An expert in pathologic evaluation of human and animal thymus tissues and immunodeficiency, she participates in DHVI projects that require pathologic evaluation of thymic function and immune reconstitution. Ongoing research projects in the Hale laboratory include investigating mechanisms that determine the immunogenicity of oral antigens to develop novel adjuvants for oral vaccines. This work has relevance for pathogenesis and treatment of infectious diseases affecting the gastrointestinal tract, as well as for inflammatory bowel disease.
